Reporting to the Vice President and Dean ofStudent Life, the Director of Community Standards takes leadershipin promoting and supporting the community values of the W&Jcampus. The Director works proactively and collaboratively toforward the ideals of responsible campus citizenship that isaligned with the Statement of Community Values and the policiesoutlined in the Student Handbook, which prioritizes integrity andrespect.In addition to educating students on the W&J communityvalues, the Director is also responsible for overseeing the dailyadministration of the Washington & Jefferson College studentconduct system as well as contributing to the support of servicesthat promote student success and retention. The Director will alsocoordinate the Student Life Assessment Committee, participate ininstitution wide assessment projects, and will assist with emergingprojects designed to enhance student success at the college.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Director will serve as the primary point person in regard tocommunity standards, both proactively and in adjudicating potentialinfractions of the Student Code of Conduct. Specifically, theDirector will the manage day to day operations of W&J’s studentconduct system including;serve as the primary contact for students, parents, faculty,and staff regarding student conduct mattersdevelop administrative protocols and procedures in compliancewith local, state, and federal laws and mandateswork closely with colleagues in residence life (including ourfraternity &sorority community), athletics, academic affairsand campus safety in supporting adherence to communitystandardsmonitor sanction compliancemaintain the integrity and accuracy of all conduct records anddiscipline databasework collaboratively to create and present proactiveeducational workshops, presentations, and programs designed toincrease community awareness of and adherence to collegepoliciesdesign and facilitate training for students, faculty, staff aswell as Community Standards Panel membersserve as a Conduct Officer for major violations of the studentcode of conductcoordinate selection, training and advisement of all conducthearing panels; provide administrative support to conduct panelsincluding recruiting panelistsprocess student discipline information requests by internal andexternal officials; create and assess annual learning outcomes andprogram goalsprepare and distribute various monthly, quarterly, and annualstatistical reportscoordinate an annual review of the policies in the StudentHandbookassist with compiling the Clery report annuallychair the Student Life Assessment Committee and assist withinstitutional assessment effortsdevelop initiatives to support student success and retention;serve on various committees at the divisional and college level;fulfill additional responsibilities as dictated by student needs,divisional and organizational priorities.QualificationsMaster’s degree in higher education administration, educationalpolicy, educational leadership, adult development, counseling, or arelated field; supplemented with a minimum of five (5) years ofrelated experience in in higher education environments.DisclaimerThe above declarations are not intended to be an all-inclusivelist of the duties and responsibilities of the position described,nor are they intended to be such a listing of the skills andabilities required to do the job.
